A discussion of what it takes to get “seated at the table” and, more importantly, what to do when you’re there. Citing both past experiences and current examples at Robbins & Myers, Mr. Beatty’s presentation will focus on what you should be prepared to offer, making yourself indispensable to the business process, and tips on building alliances with your peer group, business unit heads and the Board of Directors. Finally, he will give some advice on how to handle those first meetings so you (a) get invited back, (b) are inundated with requests for your assistance, (c) are given increasingly important tasks that directly relate to the business’ strategic direction, and (d) wonder why you ever wanted to get that seat in the first place.
