May 2008 MVHRA Workshop Speaker Christopher B. Mykrantz Chris Mykrantz is a senior consultant and practice leader for Watson Wyatt’s Communication Practice. He has extensive experience in developing communication strategies and resulting programs to drive measurable business results, and creating effective employee communication processes, including measurement. Prior to joining Watson Wyatt, Chris spent nearly seven years as Vice President, Employee Communications for GreenPoint Financial Corporation, a New York City-based consumer banking and specialty housing finance company. While at GreenPoint, Chris’ built a comprehensive internal communications process at both the corporate level and within GreenPoint's individual business units, where none had previously existed. He also directed communications for two major acquisitions, trained more than 400 GreenPoint managers in face-to-face communication skills. In addition, he held key internal communications positions at AlliedSignal Inc., Morristown, N.J., and at Conrail Inc., Philadelphia, PA. As Director, Employee Communications at Conrail, Chris played a key role in transforming the communication environment and the culture of the 25,000 employee, $4 billion transportation company. Chris has written a number of articles on communication strategy for various professional publications, including the Journal of Employee Communication Management, and is a frequent speaker at corporate communication conferences and seminars. He also co-wrote a book on management communication, The Comprehensive Guide to Upward and Face-to-Face Communication, which was published in 1997 by Ragan Communications. He holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri and did graduate work in Finance and Management at St. Joseph's University and Drexel University. He has served as President of the Council of Communication Management, a national organization for senior strategic communication professionals, and is also a past president of the Association of Railway Communicators.
