Linda Wells, PHR
President

Member of MVHRA for 10 plus years with previous board positions as, Vice President, Secretary and Chair of the Diversity Committee. Employed with Standard Register, for 30 plus years. Current role is Human Resources Manager supporting various business groups within the organization.  She has a strong background in talent management, employment law and employee relations.

Linda is PHR certified and an active member of SHRM.  She completed Sinclair Community College's Human Resources Management Professional Development Series in March, 2003.

Joyce Conrad, SPHR

Joyce has been in the Human Resources profession for the last 25 years and served in the capacity of Corporate Personnel Development Administrator, Training and Development Specialist, Manager of Training and Development and Manager of Human Resources (Day Shift) in both a large and mid-sized company.  Today, she is the Director of Human Resources for AAA Miami Valley and has had the opportunity to serve in this capacity for the past 12 years.  Additionally, she is a member of SHRM and has been fortunate to attend several annual conferences and expos over the last 15 years.

I am currently a Human Resources Manager at Standard Register and have been with the company since 2005. I currently support various sales business units at Standard Register with all aspects of HR. I have previous experience in writing Affirmative Action plans where I was the AAP/EEO Coordinator for a Menlo Worldwide Forwarding. I have been a registered member of MVHRA for the past 4 years and a SHRM member for 6 years. I am a graduate of Bowling Green State University with Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and a specialization in Human Resource Management. I was president of BGSU’s Student SHRM chapter.

Kelly O'Connor

Kelly is a project coordinator/writer at Write On Target, Inc. She works with her co-workers to help simplify benefits and HR communications for a variety of Fortune 500 companies.

Kelly studied Human Resource management at Central Michigan University and held several internships prior to joining Write On Target, Inc. In the role of Networking/Publicity Chair for MVHRA, Kelly utilizes her coordination and interpersonal skills to assist in the coordination of organization events and to increase awareness of MVHRA in the local community.

Kelly is a member of SHRM and a resident of the Dayton-area community.

Julia Hall

Julia is currently employed as a Business Development Manager at MyCareerNetwork.com, the company that powers GreaterDaytonWorks.com. In her current role she works closely with HR professionals to provide applicant tracking software, EEO management tools, as well as advertising for open positions.
Prior to that, she was the manager of recruitment at a local non-profit for ten years. During this time she served for two years on the national Donor Recruitment Committee.  Julia received her Bachelor’s degree in Social and Industrial Communications from Wright State University.   

Jeffrey A. Mullins, Esq.

JEFFREY A. MULLINS is a the Partner-in-Charge of the Dayton office of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP. He received his undergraduate degree, graduating magna cum laude, from the University of Dayton and law degree, graduating summa cum laude, from the University of Dayton School of Law. Mr. Mullins practices in the areas of health care and labor and employment law. Rosemary Rulka M.S., SPHR

Rosemary is the owner and President of R.C. Rulka Consulting, LLC. Rosemary has over 20 years of experience in Management, Human Resources and Training.

Rosemary earned her BA in Human Resource Management from Capital University and her M.S. from Central Michigan University with a concentration in Administration and Organizational Behavior. Ms. Rulka is a current member of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Scholarship Society, a Professional Member of SHRM, and a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources Management.

Prior to forming her own company, Rosemary held positions as Corporate University Director and Regional HR Director for CBS Personnel Services. Ms. Rulka has also performed consulting work for Drake Beam Morin and held several management positions with Sears Roebuck Company including Operations, Merchandising, Store Management, and Human Resources Management. She also taught Human Resources Management classes for 9 years at Capital University .

Betsy Brown
College Relations Committee Chair

Betsy Brown is a Career Management Consultant with Right Management, a global career transition and organizational consulting firm. Her focus is working with employees who find themselves in job transition as a result of being impacted by company downsizing and change. Prior to joining Right Management, she was a Director of Human Resources with the Reynolds and Reynolds Company responsible for human resources strategic projects, policy and processes.

In her distinguished career, Betsy has had a broad range of responsibilities. These include partnering with business leaders and providing consultative services to achieve organizational effectiveness and implementing key development initiatives. She has in-depth experience in project management, process improvement, employee relations, recruiting, compensation, and executive coaching.

Betsy began her career delivering services in the mental health community. She is an active volunteer in her community and has served on many education and nonprofit boards.

She holds a master degree in Personnel Counseling and a bachelor degree in Rehabilitation Education from Wright State University. She also holds the designation of Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). She is certified in multiple training delivery systems and leadership assessment tools.

Carrie Brunello

Carrie Brunello is the Co-Owner of 11th Hour Staffing, Inc, a family owned, full-service recruiting firm offering services locally and nationwide for all industries, recruiting for both temporary and direct hire roles. She has over 10 years experience in recruiting, training, human resources and management. Carrie is a graduate of State University of New York College at Brockport and is PHR certified.

Carrie is passionate about helping others and committed to serving our local community. She is actively involved with the local Chamber of Commerce’s, business organizations, and other community groups. She is an active member of Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), Miami Valley Human Resources Association (MVHRA) and co-founder of Linked Dayton Metro.

Denise Maimone
Job Opportunities & Resumes Chair

Denise Maimone is the Director of Human Resources for Wright State Physicians.  Her 20+ years in human resources has been primarily in the role of an HR Generalist/Manager with government contracting companies in the local Dayton area.  Denise received her BS in Business Management in 2002 from Urbana University and her MBA (Human Resource Management) in 2005 from the University of Phoenix.  Denise is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). 

Lindsey O'Connell

I received a Bachelors Degree in Communications from Wilmington College in May 2000.  I began my career, briefly, in television with WHIO-TV and then moved on to Hotel Management.  In 2005 I began my career with InfoCision Management Corporation as a Human Resources Coordinator, where I am currently.  I have been a member of MVHRA for one year.

Rosalie M. Catalano, MBA, SPHR
Newsletter Committee Chair

Rosalie Catalano is president of Keystone HR Consulting, which she founded in 2006. Prior to that, she worked in various executive roles at YSI Inc. in Yellow Springs, Ohio. She first joined them in a sales and marketing role, which had been her areas of focus in the laboratory products industry for a number of years.

After two years in an executive sales and marketing role at YSI, Rosalie had the opportunity to move into leading their newly formed corporate communications function. Then, in 2001, she was asked to add responsibility for the human resource function to the existing communications role. She found she had a passion for both and, when she started her own consulting firm in 2006, named her company Keystone because she believes that without both effective communication and productive people an organization will collapse, much like a structure without a keystone will collapse.

The mission of her work is to help organizations maximize employee satisfaction and optimize business communication to ultimately improve individual and organizational performance.

Rosalie has done a variety of consulting jobs, including helping organizations with any assignments such as employee handbooks, job descriptions, conducting employee interviews or organizational climate surveys to surface issues, and performing HR audits. She also writes an HR-focused newsletter on a regular basis for a client.

Rosalie’s undergraduate degree from California University of PA is in secondary math education and she has an MBA from George Washington University. She is a certified SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources). She also serves as newsletter chair for the Miami Valley HR Association and is active in the Dayton chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators.

Richard (Rick) L. Blackstone, SPHR

Rick Blackstone, SPHR, Director Management and Team Training, Reynolds and Reynolds, Dayton, Ohio.

Rick has been in the human resources profession for nineteen years. His broad-based background includes experience in most every aspect of human resources. Rick is currently employed at The Reynolds and Reynolds Company as the Director of Management and Team Training for Reynolds University.

Rick established membership with the Miami Valley Human Resources Association (MVHRA) in 1981. He moved into a leadership role as the Professional Development Chair in 1993. Moving through several board positions, Rick was the Membership Director in 1994, Treasurer in 1995, Vice President in 1996, and served as the President in 1997. He has served in volunteer positions at the state level from 1998 to present.

Rick is a SHRM member, and became SPHR certified in 1995. He teaches a PHR/SPHR certification preparation class on training and development semi-annually at Wright State University. His undergraduate degree is in accounting (Wright State) and his graduate degree is in Education (University of Dayton).

Deb Norris

Deborah L. Norris, Vice President for Workforce Development & Corporate Services

Deb joined Sinclair Community College in September 2006 in the newly created position of Vice President for Workforce Development & Corporate Services.  In this role, Deb oversees a team that is responsible for understanding the workforce needs of employers and then developing a wide range of services to meet those needs.  Services include consulting, assessments, and training and development engagements. Deb is also responsible for the Advanced Integrated Manufacturing (AIM) Center; The Sinclair Conference Center (David H. Ponitz) and Continuing Education programs focused on industry recognized certifications for individuals. In her role, Deb also oversees many of Sinclair’s regional workforce initiatives including Ohio Skills Bank and the Regional Workforce Transformation Consortium housed at Sinclair.    

Deb comes to Sinclair with 25+ years of extensive business experience including sales, marketing, and management in a variety of business environments including Fortune 500 companies, a technology startup, a business to business brand consulting agency, and a management consulting firm.  These companies include Right Management Consultants, LexisNexis and AT&T. 

Deb was appointed by Governor Ted Strickland to serve on the newly formed Governor’s Workforce Policy Advisory Board. In addition, she serves on the executive committee.  Deb serves on the Governing Board and executive committee of the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce. In 2008, Deb was chosen to represent Sinclair on the National Composite Center (NCC). She is a Board member of Miami Valley Human Resources Association (MVHRA) where she also serves as Professional Development Chair. Deb is a member of Wright State University’s Raj Soin School of Business Management Department Advisory Board. Deb is an active member of the Dayton Rotary Club where she serves on the Membership Recruitment and Blue Ribbon committees.  She currently serves on the Daybreak Board and is the former Chair of the March of Dimes Board and for many years served as President of the Clothes that Work! Board. In May 2008, Deb was one of 25 leaders in the community selected to serve as one of the 88th ABW Honorary Commanders at WPAFB. 

Deb was honored in 2005 by being selected as one of Dayton’s Ten Top Women by the Dayton Daily News. Deb was also a 2008 recipient of the Women of Influence award given by the Dayton YWCA.  Deb holds an MBA and BS in Business from the University of Dayton.  She is a graduate of the Leadership Dayton Program and has also attended the executive education program at the University of Michigan’s Business School.  Deb lives in Germantown, Ohio with her husband Craig, and their nine dogs and one cat, all strays that they have rescued.

Jessica Tincher
Student Chapter Liaison Wright State University

Jessica Tincher graduated from Waynesville High School in 2002.  She attended Sinclair Community College from Spring 2006 through Fall 2007, where she obtained her Associate in Business Management.  She is now in her last year at Wright State University, where she is finishing her dual Bachelors in Business Management and Human Resources Management.  After Jessica graduates in June, 2010, she plans to start her MBA program at Wright State University and complete the PHR certification exam in June as well.

Jessica is currently the President of the Wright State University Human Resources Club for the 2009-2010 school year.  Jessica is looking forward to working with the MVHRA along with the HR Club at WSU and bringing the two closer.  After graduating with her Bachelors, Jessica plans on still working closely with the HR Club at WSU.

Jessica is currently employed at Tincher’s Welding, LLC in Harveysburg, Ohio.  She is the Human Resources Safety Director.  In the last three years, Jessica has worked hard to keep the company compliant through the economic changes and has worked on several training certifications.  She has her 30 hour OSHA certification and has completed the OSHA 500 course to be certified to train her employees on OSHA 30 hour topics.  She has also completed the American Red Cross Instructor Training Program and is now certified to teach all American Red Cross Courses on First Aid, Adult/Child/Infant CPR, and AED.  Jessica has also worked closely with the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and completed trainings in various areas such as Train the Trainer, Drug Free Workplace Program, BWC University, OSHA Recordkeeping, 10-Step Business Plan, and many more.

Jessica currently resides in Waynesville, Ohio where she lives near her parents and sister.

Shelly Knick

Shelly Knick is a graduate of Ansonia High School and has been employed at Whirlpool Corp. in Greenville for the past ten years. Shelly, is pursuing her Associates of Applied Business in Human Resources Management at Edison Community College where she serves as President of the Society for Business and Human Resources Management. After graduation Shelly plans to further her career at Whirlpool as well as continue her education and pursue completion of the Professional in Human Resources certification.

Shelly resides in Greenville with her husband Thomas.

Steven has been a very active member of the MVHRA, having joined in 1994 and served as Networking and Publicity Chair for over two years, then was voted by the membership to be the Vice-President/President Elect for 2002. In July 2002 Steven was asked stepped up to the office of President of MVHRA. Steven then served as President of MVHRA from July of 2002 through 2004. Steven accepted a new Position with the SHRM Ohio State Council as District Director, of West Central Ohio. This position will allow Steven to visit and work other SHRM Chapters in Ohio and I will continue to work with the MVHRA Board in this position as well as MVHRA's Past President Committee and MVHRA's Technology Director.

Prior to entering the private sector, Steven worked in law enforcement and personnel administration for over twenty-nine years. He has dealt with employers and assisted them in resolving a wide variety of personnel problems and issues. Steven provides instruction and consulting to many Associations and Companies annually. His programs focus on all areas of HR Management and Employment Law.

Steven has conducted training sessions for Miami Valley Human Resource Association, Kentucky State Chapter of the Society of Human Resource Association, The National Apartment Association, The Florida State Apartment Association, The National Pawn Brokers Association, American Society for Industrial Security, The United States Department on Senior Care & Aging, The Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES) an agency within the U.S. Department of Agriculture as well as many other Associations and Companies Nationally.  Some of his areas of expertise are Employment Law, The Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Due Diligence in Employment Background Screening, Workplace Violence and other areas of Human Resources. Steven also speaks on Technology in today’s workplace, “The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.”

Jim Vose, SPHR
Workforce Readiness chair

Jim Vose, SPHR is the Manager of Human Resources for The Dupps Company.  He has over 25 years of HR generalist experience primarily with manufacturing industries in the Dayton and Cincinnati areas.

He is a SHRM member and became lifetime SPHR certified in 1993.  He has held various leadership positions in other SHRM chapters, i.e. Board Member of Greater Cincinnati Human Resource Association and President of Butler/Warren County SHRM.

Jim has a BS degree in Business Management from WVU.  His volunteer activities have included 20 years with Junior Achievement, mock interviewing with high school students, Company liaison for school partnership program and job shadowing programs.

Mark Ording

Mark Ording is a Regional Leader for Primerica, and has over 20 years experience in the field of Sales and Marketing. He is a graduate of Clark State Technical College. He currently holds State of Ohio Insurance and the NASD Series 6, 26, & 63 License's. Mark has worked on the Networking & publicity Committee for several years and has been the Chair of the Networking & publicity Committee for the past two years. Mark has assisted running the Professional Development Workshop and Vendor Fair for the past several years. Mark is our 2004 Vice President on The MVHRA Board of Directors. Mark is also a volunteer instructor for Junior Achievement of Dayton. Mark resides in Springboro with his wife Leigh.

Virgil McDaniel is the Vice President of Human Resources for EGI, Inc. He graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in Police Administration and Business. He is certified through the Society of Human resource Management as a Professional in Human Resources.

Before joining EGI, Inc., Virgil was with the City of Dayton Police Department and retired after 28 years of service at the rank of Lt. Colonel.

Professional affiliations include SHRM, MVHRA, the FOP of Ohio, Inc., and Police and Fire Retiree's of Ohio, Inc. Virgil currently serves on the boards of Project Cure, Inc., the Estates of Silvercreek Homeowners Association and Captain John C. Post FOP 44.

Jenny Warner, PHR

As a Human Resource Consultant, Jenny has worked most recently for MeadWestvaco providing recruitment and selection support for their Consumer & Office Products group.

Jenny’s background includes 1 year of directing the Miami Valley Competency Profiling System, a non-profit web-based skill assessment system developed for the Miami Valley. Her background includes 4 years of career consulting and Internet recruitment training experience. She also has over 10 years of experience in Human Resource Management, particularly in the areas of recruitment and training, in several different industries including banking, business services, retail, and information technology.

She has been very active in the Human Resource community in Dayton. With the Miami Valley Human Resource Association (MVHRA), Jenny has served as Acting President, Vice President and Programming Chair, Publicity Chair, Job Opportunities Chair, Membership Director, Webmaster, and Newsletter Editor. Jenny has been certified for over 6 years as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and is a national member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Teresa Napier
Networking / Publicity Committee Assistant Chair

Teresa joined Lee Hecht Harrison in 1997 as job market consultant. She has worked in several career centers doing job development and training for numerous clients.  Career centers consist of: Millennium Petro Chemicals, Starkist, G.E., International Paper, Fernald and Reynolds and Reynolds. Her primary focus is working directly with companies/recruiters in the Cincinnati and Dayton markets to identify hiring needs in order to create match opportunities for clients. Teresa spends a significant amount of time working with her clients to fully understand their company needs, enabling her to help meet those needs effectively. Teresa also trains clients on the usage and benefits of the Career Resource Network, Lee Hecht Harrison’s Internet-based job resource and search tool. She also maintains a client base of Procter & Gamble dual career clients through Lee Hecht Harrison.  

Teresa is also a certified trainer in the Milestones and enjoys doing both job development and training. She has facilitated workshops such as “How to Dress for Success”, “Working with Recruiters” and Networking.

Teresa is a former franchise owner of a business called Sport Clips.  She managed the finances, recruited and trained internal staff and managed company growth.

Prior to joining Lee Hecht Harrison, Teresa spent 10 years in sales and recruiting with two large staffing firms.  She was responsible for providing staffing solutions for a variety of large and small companies.  She was the Northern Cincinnati Regional Sales Manager for Adecco, the largest staffing company in North America and held the reward for top sales manager in the region.

Currently, Teresa is the Assistant Networking Chair for the MVHRA (Miami Valley Human Resource Association).  She is also the Treasurer for the Springboro City Council, Bruce Moore Campaign.

AMY HOUGHTLING

Amy Houghtling is a Media Consultant working with Major Health Care Accounts at Cox Ohio Media, the parent company to the Dayton Daily News, Springfield News Sun, Middletown Journal, and JournalNews of Hamilton along with their associated websites and in partnership with Yahoo! HotJobs. She is responsible for developing relationships with Marketing and Human Resource professionals in the healthcare industry and assisting them with their marketing and recruitment needs whether local or national in any media.

Since joining Cox Ohio Publishing, Amy has either created or helped in the development of several new products including Next Generation of Healthcare Professionals and Health Care Today Classroom for Cox Ohio Publishing along with creating several referral and workforce development programs for accounts. For the past 6 years, she has been a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, the Miami Valley Human Resources Association, and the Secretary and one of the founding members for the Dayton Area Association of Health Care Recruiters.

ROBIN BRUN

Robin Brun is Vice President of Consulting Services with Right Management, in Dayton, Ohio.  Robin focuses on providing account management services to Rights’ corporate clients.

Consulting Experience
As Vice President of Consulting Services, Robin works with organizations to help them maximize the return on their human capital investment.  She assists clients in every stage of Right’s employment life cycle, from attract and assess, develop, engage and align, to career transition.  She is committed to helping people and organizations achieve their full potential.

Robin has 12 years of Human Resources experience primarily in the areas of training and development and recruitment.  Prior to joining Right Management, Robin spent five years as Manager of Education and Career Development for Fifth Third Bank, Western Ohio.  She was responsible for the training and development of more than 800 employees.   She designed and delivered a wide variety of programs, including management/supervisory, career development, and customer service to ensure that managers developed the knowledge and skills needed to attract and retain top talent.

Robin began her work in Human Resources at NCR Corporation.  She gained her recruiting experience with Mead Data Central and later became a Human Resource Consultant. She has delivered programs in the following industries: Health Care, Manufacturing, Non-profit and Financial Services.  In addition, Robin provided recruiting, management training, and career transition services to meet individual client needs.  As a career counselor she coached and counseled hundreds of displaced employees through their career transition.

Robin is known for delivering high impact, practical training programs that keep the audience engaged and inspires them to apply the learning to their unique situation.  Robin is passionate about assisting managers in their leadership role.  She is a firm believer that strong leaders create strong organizations. 
Robin has earned certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) through the Society for Human Resource Management. Mrs. Lisa Crawford is a lecturer of Management at Wright State UniversityShe is also the owner/president of a successful Management Consulting Firm.  She has twenty two years of diversified business experience including: Senior Human Resource Officer for a major hospital; Project Manager in charge of nationwide marketing accounts for Huffy corporation; Manager of a $59million regional service center for Dayton Power and Light; and Plant Manager for a steel processing facility.

Bill Waxman

Bill Waxman is an associate professor of marketing for Edison Community College in Piqua. Also, he is the program coordinator for the business management program. Throughout his twenty-six years of business experience in private industry he has held a variety of management and marketing positions. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, PA and a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Dayton. Bill resides in Vandalia with his wife Betsy.

Andrea Gurcsik is the Human Resource Manager for TolTest, Inc. She is responsible for managing the human resource function for the international construction company. Previously, she worked at the University of Toledo and S.E. Johnson Companies, Inc. Andrea has been active in the field of Human Resources for over nine years. Serving as the 2008 President on the Toledo Area Human Resource Association (TAHRA) Board of Directors, Andrea also serves as the Chair for the 2008 Ohio Human Resource Conference and as the North Western Ohio District Director for the Society of Human Resource Management, Ohio State Council. She volunteers as a Human Resources Certification Institute instructor for the TAHRA study group, and has been a member of the Society of Human Resource Management for 9 years. Andrea passed the PHR exam in 2001 and the SPHR exam in 2006. Andrea received her Bachelor?s and Master?s Degrees in Business Administration from the University of Toledo, where she presently serves as a Part Time Faculty Member in the College of Business. In October 2005 Andrea was recognized as The University of Toledo?s College of Business Administration, Outstanding Young Alumni of the Year and in 2006 she was a recipient of the Toledo area's prestigious 20 under 40 Leadership Award. In addition to her human resource volunteer pursuits, Andrea is presently serving as the Vice President for the Owens Alumni Association Board of Directors and as a Director on the Neighborhood Properties, Inc. Board of Directors. Other volunteer pursuits include Hospice of Northwest Ohio, The American Cancer Society and coaching basketball for the Catholic Youth Organization.

Stephanie Parks-Gale

Stephanie Parks is currently an H.R. Specialist for Norwood Medical. Prior to Norwood Medical, she worked as an H.R. Coordinator for InfoCision Management.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Wright State University majoring in both management and human resources management.  She is currently enrolled in the M.B.A program at Wright State University.

Stephanie passed the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) exam in June, 2007 and is a member of the Miami Valley Human Resources Association (MVHRA) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
Esther Moss

Esther joined Cornerstone Research Group, Inc., in September 2003.  She is a Human Resources Generalist II.  Her goal is to provide excellent service by ensuring CRG’s culture remains a conduit for stimulating innovation in an environment where employees know they are valued! Esther’s exceptional interpersonal skills enable her to buttress both leadership and staff a research and development organization that averages a 40% annual growth rate.
Prior to joining CRG, Esther served in the United States Army for four years and her future career goal is to serve the veterans of this great nation. 
Esther is co-founder of Women of Purpose, (WOP) a group that provides support to the needs of women in and around the Huber Heights/Dayton Area, meeting the second Saturday of each month at the Huber Heights YMCA.
Currently, Esther works as the Co-Chair of the Advertising/Sponsorship Committee for the MVHRA (Miami Valley Human Resource Association).

Shawn Emerson
Associate / Governmental Affairs Committee Assistant Chair

Shawn is an associate in the Labor and Employment practice in Taft's Dayton office. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Cedarville University in 2000, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law in 2010. While at the School of Law, he served as managing publication editor of the Dayton Law Review.
Prior to joining Taft, Mr. Emerson clerked for Magistrate Judge Sharon L. Ovington of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. He worked as a police officer for eight years on the Dayton Police Department, where he achieved the rank of detective and was a member of Dayton's S.W.A.T. team. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.  In addition to general practice in the area of labor and employment law, Shawn concentrates his practice on:

  1. Assisting public and private sector clients with all manners of legal, administrative and regulatory compliance, including issues arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, Ohio’s unemployment compensation statute.
  1. Providing research and counseling on complex legal issues that arise in the union work environment, including issues of mandatory vs. permissive bargaining topics, the proper procedures for ratifying collective bargaining agreements in the public sector, and the often complex interplay between a collective bargaining agreement and local, state and federal laws governing leaves of absence, vacation and sick leave usage, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Assisting employers in addressing employee military leave, and specifically assisting public sector clients in coordinating paid and unpaid leave mandated by Ohio and federal law.
