Position Title: TRAINING and DEVELOPMENT MANAGER POSITION
Status:       Full time, FLSA Exempt
Reports To:           Director, Human Resources

Summary: Plans and directs all supervisory training and management development programs along with other selected programs for the organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree or advanced study in the area of Instructional Design/Development preferred
  • 3+ consecutive years experience in a professional level Training or  Development position (e.g. Training Specialist, Training Manager)
  • Experience with both classroom and online design and development (evidence of effective/creative approaches and techniques)
  • Knowledge and experience with adult learning theories, training development methodologies  and performance improvement strategies
  • Previous experience managing corporate supervisory training and management development programs is preferred
  • Preferred is experience developing administering a corporate internet learning system.
  • Experience supervising other training positions is preferred.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to write complex reports and prepare and/or make presentations to senior leadership and Boards.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate level knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; PowerPoint design software; Human Resource systems and Project Management software.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises two employees in Training and Development. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
