BASIC FUNCTION
The Human Resources Director is responsible for leading the daily operation of human resources programs including, but not limited to, Partner-Employee relations, payroll administration, compensation and benefits administration, recruiting and human resources management project development.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES
The Human Resources Director:
- Provides guidance to managers on handling human resource issues- 15%
- Counsels Partner-Employees on work-related matters- 15%
- Administers the Credit Union’s compensation and benefits program- 15%
- Oversees payroll administration- 10%
- Oversees recruiting function- 10%
- Supervises, coaches, and regularly reviews the performance of subordinates working in the Human Resources Department, including developing Partners for promotional opportunities as may be appropriate- 10%
- Interprets and communicates human resources policies, procedures, and practices for managers and Partner-Employees- 8%
- Researches, negotiates with, and recommends selection of vendors of insurance and benefit programs- 5%
- Prepares management reports - 5%
- Works on special projects- 5%
- Coordinates with employment attorneys and consultants regarding issues of employment law, EEOC claims, etc.- 2%
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
The position of Human Resources Director requires the following:
- A Bachelor’s degree in human resource management organizational development, business management, or related field, or, equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Professional certification in the human resource field (PHR or SPHR) is required.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in a human resources department in a non-union environment, encompassing a working knowledge of employment law, effective employee relations practices, comprehensive insurance and benefit plans, and payroll, is required.
- Must possess a working knowledge of HRIS or other data base applications. Prefer at least one year experience with HR Perspective and/or Microsoft Access programs.
- Demonstrated ability and drive to implement new and innovative initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and service levels.
- At least one year prior supervisory or management experience with direct responsibility for staff is required.
- Prior experience in a human resources department in a credit union, financial services organization, or retail services organization is preferred.
