The Objectives of MVHRA are to serve HR professionals, advance the HR profession and grow/enhance MVHRA and SHRM. To meet these objectives, members of MVHRA are encouraged to participate in at least one volunteer opportunity each year. Current opportunities are listed in the following links:
Position Summary:
The Assistant Secretary is an appointed position. The person in this position assist the elected Secretary and in their absence helps to manually record and maintains all records of meeting discussions and decisions made by the Board.
Primary Responsibilities in the absence of the Secretary:
Record the minutes of the regular monthly meetings of the Board of Directors (11 per year).
Record the minutes of any special Board meeting(s) called by a member of the board.
Provide copies of the minutes to all Board members and committee chairs prior to each monthly meeting.
Read the minutes at the regular Board meetings and revise as necessary. A copy of the approved mintes should be placed in the record book.
Properly display SHRM “Affiliate of” logo on chapter letterhead, publications and/or products
Provide chapter members with board meeting minutes.
Position Requirements:
Member of MVHRA and SHRM.
Working knowledge of record keeping.
Proficiency in Microsoft WORD or some other word processing application.
Accreditation as a PHR or SPHR highly desired.

Position Summary:
The Community Liaison Chair is an appointed position and serves to extend all outreach efforts in the Greater Dayton and Miami Valley Area.
Primary Responsibilities:
Recommend community service projects to be supported by the chapter.
Make chapter members aware of community organizations that would be beneficial to HR professionals or businesses. Invite representatives of local community organizations to chapter meetings. Allow them a few minutes to discuss their programs if appropriate.
Provide information to chapter members about local community organizations through flyers or brochures at meetings or via newsletter articles if appropriate.
Maintain liaison with the local Chamber of Commerce, business organizations, business news writers, and other community groups.
Serve as liaison between members of the Community Relations Committee.
Participate in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategy planning for the chapter.
Represent the chapter in the Human Resources community.
Attend all monthly membership and Board of Directors meetings.

Working knowledge of the Communities we serve.

In support of the MVHRA-BRAC Inbound program, volunteers are needed to become Networking Representatives to assist trailing spouses of military, civilian and contractor personnel whose jobs are relocating to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The role of the Networking Representative is to connect with trailing spouses in an effort to extend a regional welcome, share your knowledge of employers and careers available in our region, and connect them to other HR professionals and business leaders in order to gather information and grow their network. This opportunity would entail making a few phone calls on a periodic basis, depending upon your availability.
